Arley Tower, is an imposing grade II listed stone folly constructed in 1842 of locally quarried Arley stone. The Tower was built as a Tudor Gothic style folly by the wealthy land owner of the Arley Estate, Earl Mountnorris. Built of sandstone with a flat lead roof, the 2 storey tower boasts a crenellated parapet and a 3 storey octagonal stair turret to the right hand corner complete with slit windows.
Arley Tower is found in Upper Arley, an idyllic village nestling on the banks of the river Severn a favourite spot for fishermen. Complete with a village pub on the other side of the river accessed by a pedestrian suspended bridge, post office and local shop, a little beach and easy access to the volunteer run Severn Valley Steam Railway. The Village makes the ideal holiday destination for rest and quiet, but within close proximity to the market towns of Bewdley and Bridgnorth.
