The World Heritage Site, New Lanark, a working nineteenth-century industrial town is 8 miles away. Strathclyde Park, which offers water sports and interesting Roman excavations, is 20 minutes away, as is the hunting lodge, Chateauherault, designed by Robert Adam. Bothwell and Craignethan Castles are within easy reach and Scotland’s highest villages and leadmines –Wanlockhead and Leadmills are a short drive. Glasgow and Edinburgh are within easy reach.
